Process Serving
Need papers served? I deliver your legal documents to the right person and file the proof of service. Service is available in the eight towns I serve.
How much is a process server in Michigan?
I charge starting at $75 to serve papers, or $26 plus $1.14 a mile each way under Michigan law (MCL 600.2559). GPS proof and photo proof are $5 each. All process-serving fees are agreed in writing before service.
Michigan permits any competent adult who is not a party to the case to serve papers (MCR 2.103(A)). I serve summonses and complaints, subpoenas, motions and family court documents.
After service, I complete and file the proof of service (MCR 2.104). Every attempt is logged with the date, time and address.
Writs and orders that only a sheriff or court officer may serve are outside this service (MCR 2.103(B) and (D)).
I serve the papers and document each attempt. I am not an attorney and do not advise on how papers should be served in your case.
